Clevertouch Plus Screens Installed Throughout Solihull School to Replace Old AV Kit
About Solihull School
Founded in 1560 and on its current school site since 1882, Solihull school has continued to grow and expand around its original School building to accommodate the growing number of pupils, whilst providing outstanding facilities. This facilitates the wide-ranging and comprehensive co-curricular programme the school provides. The school prides itself upon placing the pupils at the heart of everything that they do, to ensure that each individual realises their full potential. It is clear to see the success of this as it is reflected in the excellent examination results that the school achieves.
Project Requirements
Solihull School and Proactive AV have been working together since March 2015 after meeting at an education roadshow and partly based upon the technical ability demonstrated by the Proactive team. Since then, Proactive have installed around 49 Clevertouch Plus screens across the school site.
The school had previously worked with another Audio Visual supplier from whom they purchased C-Touch screens, however, once Proactive had demonstrated the Clevertouch screens they found the software to be far superior to that provided with their existing screens. The school highlighted that the clear selling point for them was that the Clevertouch Plus screens offered the most versatility as they are intuitive and easy even for novices to use whilst being robust enough to withstand the rigours of a classroom.
Project Outcome
In 2015, the school started a project where they are replacing their outdated classroom Hitachi Starboards and projectors. As there have been a multitude of de-installations and installations this has meant that Proactive AV has needed to manage the whole project, including taking away the old equipment and disposing of it as per WEEE regulations. During the summer of 2017 along with several 65” Clevertouch screens the school purchased a much larger 86” Screen for a room which is used for additional purposes such as debates and seminars. Like many of the other rooms, this previously had a Hitachi Starboard and LED Projector in place.
A clear distinction between Proactive AV and other audio visual suppliers is they manage the whole process from start to finish. Many other suppliers organise delivery of the screens by third party transport companies leaving the school to store them and then sending in subcontractors to de-install and install equipment, the majority of which do not take away old equipment for disposal.
Training and Support
Historically the Proactive team have conducted onsite training courses which were aimed towards IT personnel on a ‘train the trainer’ basis. However, as they employ their own trainers, they were also able to conduct training sessions for other interested staff members on how to use the screens. Supporting user guides are provided with all screens and the support team ensure they are just at the end of the phone to assist with any queries.
Solihull also highlighted an additional benefit of the service Proactive AV provide, is reliability; whenever they have required a touchscreen the process has been efficient and fitted into the school’s timescales.
